He was born in a town near Faizabad of Uttar Pradesh on 1827.
He was made a soldier or Sepoy in 6th Company of 34th Bengal native infantry in 1849.
He revolted against East India Company in 1857 by attacking British officer at military garrision in Barrackpore.
This revolt was considered as First War of Independent in India against Britishers.
He was sentenced to death by hanging.
Mangal Pandey execution took place on 8 april 1857.
After that event, the seven out of ten companies of 34thBengal native infantry regiment were disbanded.
Mangal Pandey is remembered as a First freedom fighter of independent movement
